Viacom, Cablevision settle iPad suit
Viacom and Cablevision have settled a dispute within the cable operator's Optimum application, which streams channels towards the iPad. Both companies released an argument stating that Viacom's lawsuit against Cablevision have been resolved. Viacom and Cablevision have decided to resolve their pending lawsuit, and also the Viacom programming continues to look on Cablevision's Optimum Applications for iPad along with other IP products," they stated inside a statement. "In reaching the settlement agreement, Cablevision and Viacom could resolve the iPad matter as well as an unrelated business matter for their mutual satisfaction. Neither side is conceding its original legal position or may have further comment." In the suit, Viacom stated that it is carriage agreement with Cablevision did not grant privileges to stream channels like MTV and Nickelodeon towards the wireless products. Viacom also prosecuted Time Warner Cable on the similar application, however the situation is on hold because they attempt to achieve funds.
