New 'Sherlock Holmes' Photos Tease The 'Game Of Shadows'

After the massive success of the first Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movie, Warner Bros. got right on setting up a sequel, which eventually became this Decembers Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. The most recent issue of Empire magazine features the films star Robert Downey, Jr. on the cover, but also boasts several photos of the shoot, including a behind-the-scenes look at the cast with Ritchie himself. Returning from the first film are Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, who plays able sidekick Dr. John Watson. The movie is also bringing out characters from the original Arthur Conan Doyle stories, including Sherlocks brother Mycroft (played by Stephen Fry) and legendary villain Professor Moriarty, who is being portrayed by Mad Men actor Jared Harris. The production also features new characters, like Noomi Rapaces mysterious gypsy Sim. As seen at Empire Online, the first photo shows three of the principal castmembers, Downey, Jr, Law and Rapace, seated around a table together. While the image itself is somewhat mundane, it likely points toward the way in which new character Sim will freshen up the already compelling dynamic between Holmes and Watson. The second photo is probably our favorite, as its a true behind-the-scenes look at the production. Downey, Jr. and Law crowd around what we assume to be a monitor to observe footage with director Guy Ritchie. Finally, and most importantly, the last image gives us a peek at Jared Harris as Holmes arch nemesis Professor Moriarty. Judging from the scripts and pencils in peoples hands, this isnt a still from the movie, but our nerd-senses are already tingling at the idea of a chess game between Moriarty and Holmes. If were lucky, maybe this scene is even set in the Diogenes Club What do you think about the new images from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows? Can you spot anything that we might have missed?
